South East Victorian Sub-Branch held their annual Memorial Day at Buchanan Park, Berwick on Sunday 13th October. MC Tony Michau acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the land the Bunurong & Wurundjeri People.
It was pleasant day with wonderful sunshine and many in attendance. It is a credit to South Eastern Sub-Branch for such a wonderfully organized day. Lots of planning goes into a day such as this and this year were able to have the local scouts look after the sausage sizzle which they excelled at.
The parade started in the University carpark led by the Greater City of Dandenong Brass Band. 403 Air Force Cadets and Australian Air League were the flag bearers. The catafalque party was formed by the Marie Brissonnette TS Bataan Navy Cadets. Members of Lone piper Ian Arrell played the lament during the wreath laying was followed by the Great War Association who performed a volley of shots accompanied by the Hymn- ‘Abide with me’.
