TPI Victoria Inc. is proud to have the opportunity to team up with Wayne Wetherall and his team at Wild Spirit Adventures to present the Sandakan TPI Tribute Trek ANZAC DAY 2020.
Commencing on the 24 April 2020 this exciting 8 night, 9 day trek will cover nearly 60km’s of the Death March Tracks and will give you an insight into some of the reality that was the Sandakan Death Marches.
Sandakan is one of the most tragic Australian stories of World War II. But it is also one of our most heroic. Commemorate the 75th Anniversary as you walk the Sandakan Death Marches track in the footsteps of our ANZAC heroes. With Sandakan Spirit as your trekking company and TPI there to support you, you’ll be participating in both a personal discovery experience and a historic Borneo adventure.
This will be a truly memorable trek to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of the Sandakan Death Marches and pay tribute to all that suffered in Borneo over that fateful three year period – see www.sandakantpi.com, www.tpivic.com and www.wildspiritadventures.com for further information as well – don’t miss out on this one.
SPECIAL NOTE: Supporting us with the trek is none other than Australian Singer-Songwriter Legend, Russell Morris – Russell is closely linked to Sandakan with his father Private Norman Morris and his ANZAC mates, Private Bruce McWilliams, Private Allan Mindy, Lance Corporal Fred New and Corporal William Fairy of the 2/29th Battalion all being a prisoners at Sandakan who escaped from the camp – a fascinating story and one to be told by Russell himself through his very personal and moving song ‘Sandakan’ from his album Van Diemen’s Land.
With only limited numbers available you will need to confirm and get in quick – contact myself at TPI Victoria Inc. on 03 9329 8844 or Wild Spirit Adventures to secure you spot – don’t miss this opportunity to be part of something special and commemorate our ANZAC heroes.
