Michael C Madden – Speaker

Michael C Madden the author of ‘The Victoria Cross, Australia Remembers’ will be the guest speaker at the Waverley RSL, Monash Sub-Branch, on Thursday evening of the 18th October at 7:30pm. Michael will have books available for purchase and signing.

Michael will take you on a journey of the understanding and commitment that went into producing this book. Contacting, interviewing and photographing the remaining VC recipients and families as well as the families of past VC Recipients.

With approval from Buckingham Palace Micheal was privileged too get to see and photograph the original Victoria Cross commissioned by Queen Victoria.

The Victoria Cross, Australia Remembers brings together each unique story of Australia’s one hundred VC recipients – and of their families and the communities they came from – in ways that have not been previously told.  These stories seek to include the people behind the VC recipient and reveal just how much these young men came from ordinary circumstances and from every walk of life.

Others who have also played a part in producing this book are George Petrou and his descriptive paintings of those VC recipients. Gordon (Gordo) Traill worked as lead photographer on this project following Michael around the world to photograph the medals, graves, people and monuments that you will see in the book.

Michael’s wife Cathie who maintained the business back home as Michael set off on his 4 year research gathering information which has culminated in to such a wonderful read.

The book is available through TPI association by phoning and ordering a copy on:

By doing so, Cam’s Cause hopes to raise awareness of the incredible work performed by the Australian military. In particular the modern day warfare of Afghanistan and the physical and psychological cost that comes with it.
